The Action Plan
The Action Plan
  • Step 1: coaching helps the client be clear about their goals, using the golden rules.

  • ●  Step 2: the coach helps the client establish the core values that generated the goals and that will guide them on

    their journey.

  • ●  Step 3: the client is now ready to create an action plan.

Two ways to create an action plan

  1. Moving forward

  2. Moving backward - a powerful (yet less used) way to create an action plan

    • ○  Your goal is your certainty

    • ○  Make your client literally step onto their goal so they can experience it fully. It helps the client embody

      their goal.

Indication: 6 steps in your action plan is a good start!

      Establish a goal.
      Set achievable wins.
      Set milestones and action steps.
Specify when by the milestones and actions need to be achieved.
List all resources you need to achieve milestones and actions. List all the risks and obstacles you foresee.

Create the Action Plan Forward 1/1

Create the Action Plan Backward 1/2
      1. Establish the goal and write the goal on a piece of paper.

      2. Ask the client to show you where the future is, and where the

present is, in the room where you are.

      3. Put that piece of paper on the floor where the future is.. That

represents the moment where they will achieve their goal.

      4. Ask the client to step onto the paper.

      5. Make them feel associated with that future moment. Make them

talk about it so you can check.

Now you’re here, you’ve really got it!
See, hear and feel your achievement.
        What is it like?
You’re enjoying all the things your outcome brings.

      6. Ask: what did you do immediately before this? The client will tell you what happened just before the goal was achieved. Write it down.

      7. When the client is ready, make him/her take a step back into that action immediately before the goal.

      8. Make them feel associated with that future moment. Make them talk about it so you can check.
        What are you doing here?
See, hear and feel exactly what this step is like.

      9. When you are sure the client is associated, ask: what did you do immediately before this moment to make it possible? The client will tell you. Write it down.

Keep repeating the same process until you have at least 6 steps before being in the present moment. The bigger the goal, the more action steps.

        Then what?

        1. When the client is back in the present moment, ask them to step aside from the timeline they have created (present moment goal in the future)

        2. Validate your action plan with your client.

What do you think about this plan?

Is there anything that you would like to change in the order of the steps?

Is there anything important that seems to be missing? Are there any unnecessary steps?

        3. Ask the client to put a time on each step.
