Helping A Client Who Feels Stuck
Helping A Client Who Feels Stuck

Because people live in constant motion, it’s easy to forget we have a choice in everything we do.

  • ●  Establish a clear, concise and neutral topic (e.g. My job vs. “My job sucks”)

  • ●  Identify client’s current point of view on the topic

  • ●  Explores several other perspectives/ different ways the client can look at the situation

  • ●  Call in all the client’s inner resources (values, life purpose, goals, skills, empowering beliefs)

to make a conscious and resonnant choice to view their topic in more empowered,

    creative and resourceful ways.

  • ●  Brainstorm all that comes to mind w.r.t resonnant choice. Coach and client write down all

the words.

  • ●  Client chooses words that feel the most resonnant.

  • ●  Commitment

  • ●  Action plan & accountability

Whether you coach in-person, on the phone or via video, space, movement, physicality are useful tools.

    • Make the client stand up

    • ●  Coach your client while walking together

    • ●  If the client is too unsettled or unfocus, ask him/her to run on the spot for 60 seconds or to do 5 burpees.

Physicality is a great ally when working on:

    • ➢  Establishing the neutral topic to work on

    • ➢  Creating new perspectives
Use the environment around the client to help create new perspective (e.g. bright colours, objects, sounds, landscape).

Make the client embody the new perspective they have created: ask the client to carry that perspective physically in their body.

      COACHING IN ACTION!

      1. Clarify what is the topic your client would like to be coached on.

      2. Use any relevant coaching tools.
